Your Hairstyle
What has my hairstyle got to do with my hat?
We have already looked at which styles of hats frame our face shape and body proportion. To really let this work to your best advantage, it is often best to tuck your hair up and away from your face. If you choose to leave out your long or very full hair, this can change the way the hat frames the face, and it may appear cluttered. Try one of these ideas:
• Experiment with tucking your hair behind your ears.
• Try styling your hair into the lowest part of your head, close to your neck.
• Style your hair up behind your head (This may mean you’ll need a larger hat size depending on the length and thickness of your hair).
• Part your hair at the side and pull it back into a low ponytail.
• If you absolutely love your hair and want to show it off, you can leave it out if you tuck it behind your ear.
• For ladies who have straight cut fringes, this may present a problem as your hat should be worn within your forehead space, not at your hairline. When you wear the hat in the correct position, this will flatten and lengthen your fringe in an unappealing way! Sorry! Try sweeping your fringe to the side while wearing your hat and see how you feel. If you have chosen a good crown and brim shape, the hat should do the work to flatter and frame your face.
