Body Type

Here we will look at how to balance your height and your curves using various hat shapes. A hat is made up of two different parts; the crown (the part that sits on your head), and the brim (which comes out from your head). Below are some suggestions for each body type:

Petite characterised by a small frame
• Go for a hat with a small brim, and a medium or short crown.
• Avoid wide brimmed hats which will make you look like you have been squashed!
• Use small or light, fluid trimmings. Large, heavy trimmings would be overbearing.

Averagemoderate, balanced build
• You have the largest number of options available to you. Experiment to find your favourite look.
• The trims may be as elaborate or discreet as you like.

Tallhaving a tall and slender frame
• Use a short crown – too much height will make you look even taller.
• The taller you are, the wider your brim can be. This will reduce the appearance of your height.
• Avoid narrow hats.

Fuller Figure curvy, heavier figure
• Have fun with wide brimmed hats to balance your curves. Your height will also contribute to how wide the brim can be: less wide for shorter ladies and wider for the tall.
• Larger, heavier trimmings can be used, as they are in proportion with your body shape.
